News on Lister Hospital

Peter Gibson, Head of Public Affairs at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage publishes the latest staff team briefing on the surgicentre negotiations, which are entering their final stage to staff.

Surgicentre negotiations enter final phase

Negotiations between the local NHS in Hertfordshire and Clinicenta, the private sector company leading on the Surgicentre development at the Lister hospital, are now reaching their final stages. If approved by all parties involved, the aim is to reach final agreement on the deal by the end of the year, if possible.

For some months now, discussions have been taking place at senior levels between the health service and Clinicenta. As the negotiations move forward, more staff are going to find themselves involved in these discussions as both sides seek to progress towards an agreed contract.

The Surgicentre at the Lister, which is part of the Government’s independent sector treatment centre programme, would see the majority of patients treated on a day case basis at the Lister and QEII, moving across to this new facility on the Lister hospital site.

The scheme is now aiming to reach commercial close in September and financial close in December 2008.
